turn down the volume in the oceans

An interesting opinion article has been published on the CNN website by Christopher W. Clark, senior scientist and I.P. Johnson director of the Bioacoustics Research Program at Cornell University, and Brandon Southall, president and senior scientist at Southall Environmental Associates and former director of NOAA’s Ocean Acoustics Program, two of the biggest experts of underwater acoustics and marine mammals, among the other things. Authors’ purpose with this piece is “to make the points within the popular media about (1) the importance of considering chronic/cumulative as well as acute aspects of anthropogenic noise impacts on the marine environment, (2) more emphasis on quieting technologies, and (3) the need for sustained and strategic acoustic monitoring.” You can find the full article on the CNN website.
