How to protect sharks and their environment? This is quite a difficult task. Two Yale University students, Leah Meth and Onon Bayasgalan from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, launched a global petition to protect sharks and manta rays, using a new way to express people’s participation. To involve the new generations the two students have created four friendly characters: the hammerhead shark Stanley, the manta Reina, Pierre porbeagle shark and Waqi White-tip. Their adventures are told in a downloadable e-book from the site of Shark Defenders. The objective is the collection of 5000 photographs of people portrayed with the outline of Stanley, from all 177 countries to CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora). Open to all, just print the outline of the shark, cut it out and send a photo to firstname.lastname@example.org by February 20.
